Traveling Man
Serving Empress Eugenie de Montijo, the wife of Napoleon III (of France), Monsieur Louis Vuitton developed an expert understanding of what made a good traveling case. In 1854, Vuitton put this knowledge to use, founding his eponymous brand, which specialized in traveling trunks. The collection met with instant success and fueled the later expansion of the brand into fashion and accessories, heralded by today's creative director and icon, Marc Jacobs.
